Isiaka Lawal was born in Lagos, Nigeria. He attended the Institute of Textile Technology Art and Design of Lagos, Nigeria. He studied painting and textile design from 1985 to 1987. He received the Departmental Prize for the Best Student of Fine Art. After graduating, he proceeded to the Consty Institute of Fashion Design and studied Fashion and Design from 1988 to 1990, where he went onto work there for seven years. He has had solo and group exhibitions. He skillfully achieved a balance of abstract and mixed media.
