A Detroit native currently residing in Harlem, Darren Pollard uses a wide range of mediums to create a kaleidoscope of intertwining themes. At the age of 18, Pollard moved to Chicago, where a classmate sold him a Pentax camera for fifty dollars. After purchasing his first camera, he soon found himself roaming the streets of Chicago taking photographs of just about everything that crossed his path. The experience helped him developing a keen awareness and appreciation for symmetry, light and abstraction.
In 2002, Pollard moved to the San Francisco Bay Area, where he refined his skills as an artist. While in the Bay Area, he worked as a photography instructor and started exhibiting his artwork. Pollard also started a photography club for kids in the Mission district of San Francisco and served as photography curator at the Joyce Gordon Gallery in Oakland, California. In 2017 Pollard relocated to the East Coast, where he currently creates his artwork. His success as an abstract painter has been notable, as he's been included in several exhibitions and accumulated a list of notable collectors throughout the United States.
Pollard holds a bachelor's degree in Psychology from Illinois State University and a master’s degree in Community Arts Management from Sangamon State University.
