Alpha Bruton is a visual artist, her career spans three decades. She makes work that is abstract, conceptional, experimental, and representational. What inspires her most is feeling that she has a social responsibility as an artist to record history, and to cast another perspective from which to view the world. Her artworks at times are a window to the imaginary, a summons, and an overture to dialogue, that dialogue being traces of childhood memories to my adult life.
Bruton completed her studies in Art Education with an emphasis in Studio Art, and the Teachers Credential Program at, California State University of Sacramento. Upon moving to Illinois, she completed her studies in the Master of Art in Art Administration at the School of the Art Institute Chicago.
